A Desert in Florence
By Catherine Germinario

Florence becomes a meeting place between cultures on July 2-3. The Festival au Désert will be featured in the Murate Complex between Via Ghibellina and via dell’Agnolo, staring artists from all over the world. This arts showcase includes works from Mali, Senegal, Morocco and Algeria in an effort to share their stories and to help discover young performers and inspire them into the music scene. Special guest Greg Cohen, bass player for Tom Waits and John Zorn, will be at the forefront of the musical experience. The event will include dialogue, music, and dance over the course of its two days in Florence.
